Nvidia RTX Spark Laptops Arrive October 16: Surface Laptop Ultra, Full Lineup with Specs and Pricing
Six brands, one superchip: the RTX Spark GB10 lands in Windows laptops and compact desktops this month.
Nvidia's RTX Spark superchip finally goes on sale. Beginning October 16, 2026, RTX Spark-powered Windows laptops from six manufacturers hit retail, led by Microsoft's new Surface Laptop Ultra — with compact desktops following in November. On October 7, Microsoft and Nvidia held a joint launch event in New York, showing off the Surface Laptop Ultra design and preorders went live across Asus, Lenovo, HP, Dell, and Microsoft. Nvidia is also hosting a public launch party in Berlin on the same day the shelves fill.
The RTX Spark is a single Arm-based superchip (the GB10, codenamed N1X) built with MediaTek on TSMC 3nm: a 20-core Arm CPU paired with a Blackwell-based RTX GPU carrying 6,144 CUDA cores (RTX 5070-class) and 5th-gen Tensor cores, joined over NVLink-C2C with up to 128GB of unified memory and roughly 1 petaflop of FP4 AI compute. It is Nvidia's first Arm-based client PC processor for Windows 11 AI PCs.
Every model, official price
| Model | Price (US, starting) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra | $2,599 | Flagship 24GB up to 128GB unified memory; launch headline |
| Microsoft Surface RTX Spark Dev Box | $5,999.99 | 128GB LPDDR5X, 2TB PCIe Gen5 SSD, 326.5 x 172 x 42.9mm, 2.0kg, Wi-Fi 7 + 10GbE, 165W adapter; US shipments begin November |
| Asus ProArt P14 / P16 | from ~$2,799 (P14) | OLED creator laptops; five Jensen-Huang-signed P14 laptops raffled at the Berlin launch |
| Dell XPS 16 Creator Edition | premium tier | Creator/developer workstation with professional displays |
| HP OmniBook Ultra 16 | mid-premium | Productivity + AI workloads |
| Lenovo Legion Slim 5i | mid tier | Gaming-oriented config |
Top-end configurations reach $4,499 (Asus ProArt P16) and above; the Surface Dev Box sits at $5,999.99 — about $2,000 more than AMD's comparable 128GB Ryzen AI Halo compact workstation ($3,999.99).
What the chip changes in practice
- Local, large-model AI: the unified-memory design means the CPU and GPU share one memory pool up to 128GB — enough to run 120-billion-parameter LLMs locally; the Surface Dev Box advertises over 120B model capacity with CUDA and TensorRT tooling.
- Unified-memory catch: the GPU is not a discrete card over PCIe, so performance varies sharply by workload versus a desktop RTX 5070 — Nvidia's own claim is "RTX 5070-class," not parity.
- Workstation + gaming pitch: Microsoft and Nvidia framed the lineup around "reinventing the PC" with Windows AI features; analysts read it best as local-AI workstations with an Nvidia software stack, not a MacBook Pro replacement.
- Arm on Windows matures: a Grace CPU means a proven datacenter Arm core lineage in a client device, with full Windows 11 Pro compatibility and CUDA — the first time that combination ships in volume client hardware.
The rollout
Laptops arrive retail on October 16, including the Surface Laptop Ultra; compact desktops (Surface RTX Spark Dev Box and partners' boxes) follow in November 2026. Nvidia marked the moment with a free public "RTX Spark Launch Celebration" at XPERION in Saturn's Alexanderplatz 3, Berlin, on October 16. If you're evaluating local AI workloads on Windows, October 16 is the day benchmarks stop being hypothetical — and the Dev Box's $6,000 ask against AMD's $4,000 alternative is the price the entire category's premium will be judged by.
Wait for independent benchmarks before treating “RTX 5070-class” as desktop-GPU parity. The shared-memory design is most compelling for local AI workloads that need more memory than a conventional laptop GPU can provide, while the launch pricing puts these machines firmly in workstation territory.
